Stage 19 of the 2026 Tour de France: Gap, the call of the peaks towards Alpe d'Huez

A queen mountain stage, 180 km of challenges between Gap and Alpe d'Huez, featuring legendary climbs and breathtaking landscapes.

This 19th stage of the 2026 Tour is a true test for riders and spectators alike. On the agenda: 180 km, over 4,500 m of elevation gain, and a legendary finish at Alpe d'Huez. The climbers will suffer, but the spectacle will live up to expectations, with iconic climbs and unforgettable Alpine panoramas.

Col de la Saulce

The first challenge of the day, this Category 1 climb (1,297 m) offers a demanding ascent and unrivalled views of the Écrins. For the best vantage point, position yourself by Lac de la Saulce, just before the summit.

Col d'Ornon

This lesser-known Category 2 climb (1,371 m) is just as spectacular, with tight hairpins and lush alpine vegetation. Stop at the col’s car park to take in the view over the Romanche Valley.
