Description
The Camper’s take
Isolated mountain spot at 992 m elevation with stunning panoramic views over the Puys chain. Access via rocky dirt track, suitable for vans and small campers but difficult for large motorhomes. Very quiet, wild nature atmosphere. Small volcanic craters, former pumice mine. No services. Popular despite remoteness, recurring cleanliness issues. Perfect for sunset viewing.
Highlights
- Spectacular panoramic view and memorable sunsets
- Very quiet and secluded, excellent tranquility
- Van/small van accessible despite a bumpy path
- Natural setting with volcanic craters and geological history
Good to know
- Very rocky and gullied access path, dangerous in bad weather
- Access impassable or very difficult for standard-sized motorhomes
- Chronic lack of civic-mindedness: toilet paper, litter, overstaying
Motorhome access : Very difficult. Narrow, stony, steep track made of volcanic soil. Impossible for standard or long camping-cars. U-turn problematic if spots are taken. Alternative access via D216 recommended for easier access.
