The Camper’s take
Waterfront spot on the Cher river facing Bourré dam, overlooking troglodyte houses. Access via unpaved but drivable track with complex navigation (multiple routes, GPS unreliable). Generally peaceful with pleasant water sounds from the dam and minimal train noise. Occasional hikers pass through. Bins and picnic tables available.
Highlights
- Stunning view over the Cher and troglodyte houses
- Peace and quiet generally dominant
- Calmed noise from the dam with few noticeable trains
Good to know
- Confusing and tricky access: misleading GPS, low bridges (some at 1.80 m), dead ends
- Unpredictable crowds: from completely quiet to 10 vehicles
- Morning motorcycle noise and barking from other banks reported on some days
Motorhome access : Drivable dirt path but tricky navigation. Multiple route options, some unsuitable. Watch for low bridges (reported down to 1.80m). Approach via the village recommended, bypassing no-entry signs. Flat terrain and stable ground once on-site.
