Mountain parking at the base of Plateau d'Ambel, ideal hiking trailhead. Flat terrain on grass and gravel with dry toilets, self-managed refuge with shelter and wood stove. Uncontrolled water available. Generally quiet nights but secluded, shaded location with no phone signal. Busy road during daytime. Very crowded September-October (deer rutting season).
