The Camper’s take
Free parking at the foot of a picturesque medieval village with fortress ruins. Two parking areas available, the second more open and level. Public toilets and drinking water fountain. Very quiet in low season, but wild camping prohibited by municipal bylaw and enforced. Narrow access through village, low trees on first parking. Very limited mobile coverage. Ideal for visiting and hiking.
Highlights
- Authentic medieval village just a short walk away
- Very peaceful night out of season
- Two spots available (the second is more accessible for large campervans)
- Natural setting with nearby hiking trails
Good to know
- Police/gendarmerie often patrol; wild camping is banned by local ordinance
- Low trees on the first parking area tricky for overhanging sections
- Narrow access to the village and difficult maneuvers when busy
- Mobile signal very weak (max EDGE, partial 4G)
Motorhome access : Access possible but tricky. Narrow entrance (half a car width). First parking with low trees: risk of contact for front overhangs. Second parking 100 m further: more open and flat, recommended. Slightly sloped terrain. Maneuvering and half-turns difficult in peak season.
