The Camper’s take
Hiking parking above Chalais Abbey in the Alps. Very quiet and shaded site, ideal for walkers. Narrow, steep access road (7 km uphill at 10-13% gradient), passable up to 7.50 m but tricky maneuvering. Dry toilets at monastery. Mobile network weak. Meditative atmosphere with monastery bells at 10 pm and 8 am. Exceptional viewpoint (Bellevue Rock) 30 minutes away. Free.

Motorhome access : Narrow and steep road (10–13% gradient) over 7 km. Doable for vehicles up to 7.50 m but tricky to maneuver when meeting oncoming traffic. Likely need to reverse. Parking area is almost flat but slightly sloped.
