Description
The Camper’s take
Scenic spot by the canal near the historic Van Gogh Bridge, 15 minutes from Arles. Access via a small wooden bridge (requires careful maneuvering). Grassy terrain but uneven, becoming muddy after rain. Very quiet at night despite early morning fishermen. Immediate proximity to Viarhône cycling route. No services available. Main issue: abundant mosquitoes, especially at dusk.
Highlights
- Very peaceful and quiet setting with birds and greenery
- 15 minutes by bike or car from Arles with access to the Viarhône
- Historic charm of the Van Gogh Bridge, a site steeped in history
- Several spots available, spacious terrain
Good to know
- Very heavy mosquito presence even with protection
- Rough and muddy terrain after rain
- Wooden bridge feels unsafe psychologically (though it supports the weight)
- Temporary braking by barrier at the path entrance (access varies)
Motorhome access : Accessible but beware: small wooden bridge is sturdy but intimidating despite supporting 3+ tons. Grass terrain, uneven and muddy after rain. Better to use the small parking opposite the bridge (roadside) for large vehicles. Bumpy path, drive slowly.
